HOW

All projects begin with a consultation, an informal chat, whether you know exactly what you are looking for, have an idea or are looking to start from the basics. We have many ways to present different options and systems, from clear documentation to visiting previous projects to demonstrations.
Once we understand your requirement and consult our different heads of department for their input, we will quickly turn around a proposal which will include all supply items and necessary professional services. Ultimately a successful installation (and support thereafter) can only be achieved with the right in-house people, processes and infrastructure, something which we pride ourselves on.

DESIGN

how we work, The design process begins with painting a picture of what our clients want from their system and selecting the correct products to best deliver this. What follows is an intricate technical design that covers everything from the setting out of TVs to the most important part of the system; the rack, the brain and heart of the system. Whether it is audiophile sound from invisible speakers, a stunning lighting system that seems to control itself or a cinema with crisp, deep sound and stunning picture that takes your breath away, our passion for automation ensures we can deliver.

”A home automation system can be subtle or dramatic, relaxing or exciting, minimalist or extravagant but most importantly, it must be simplistic. As Head of Design at iHomes, I take pride in identifying the perfect products brought together in the best configuration to deliver a system that exceeds expectations.”

Mike Dorling – Head of Design

INSTALL

how we work, installation specialist for smart homesOff the back of a watertight design we know exactly what we are installing and how we are doing it. Installation includes second fix of: speakers, TV’s, soundbars, cinema screens, projectors, patch panels, touch screens, keypads, cameras, lighting, blind panels and of course racks. The Installation part of a project also includes off site works; we build the racks in our workshop to increase efficiency, minimize site time (our window is often narrowed) and negate damages on site; accidental physical or dust ingress. Before handing over to commissioning we update the ‘as built’ documentation and hand over a full system test report.

’Installation is the first practical part of the work we do and I make sure every piece of equipment is installed the way I would in my own home. It is important for me that when a client looks at the install, they see that even the screws are facing the same way.’’
Mehmet Degerli – Installation Manager

COMMISSION

how we work, intuitive home automation systems specialistOnce all the equipment is installed on site, tested and labled, we begin commissioning by setting up the network for the system, client and guest. We then move onto testing, configuring and calibrating, from logging in subscription accounts to fine tuning DSP. Then we test everything from top to bottom, each component part as standalone, from a technical and an end user perspective. We double check all ‘as built’ information is accurate and everything is correctly set up and addressed. Before handing over for program upload we make sure everything is neat and tidy and every component part is installed, connected and working as per design.

“A quality system is not only a reflection of the company but each individual carrying out their given tasks. I take pride in creating a practical and intuitive system designed to make peoples lives easier when automating a home specified to each clients personal needs’’

Ridvan Rushiti – Commissioning Lead

PROGRAM

how we work, programming specialist for smart home automationOnce the design is produced, we double check to ensure the solution is technically correct and all components can be integrated seamlessly. Where third party system integration is required, clear communication and close coordination is applied to gather the technical information needed for programming. The majority of the work is done off site and because our design, installation and commissioning processes are so stringent, the time on site uploading the program and testing is minimised. The programs are always written in such a way that should the client wish to make changes we can quickly and easily modify to accommodate.

‘’A robust and user-friendly system are my two main focuses when programming. When we deliver this and I hand the system over to the client, if I can do this relatively quickly, without a hiccup and there are few questions I know I’ve achieved my objectives.’’

Robin Anthony – Chief Programmer

PROJECT MANAGE

how we work, project manager for the installation of smart homesEach component part of what we do is of equal importance but the project management provides the cohesion. After many years of trying different software platforms and procedures we have galvanized the process and perfected the art. There are many facets to the role of project management with the overall objective of doing what you need to do to deliver. Administration, communication, empathy, authority, pushing and pulling, checking and checking again. It’s the job of the project management team to deliver a snag free project fully aligned with the agreed design and contract.

’I am in constant communication with corporate management, our suppliers, the client and all internal departments to ensure we collectively deliver as per scope and design. I need to be one step ahead to maintain our established procedures, stick to the programme and mitigate risks’’

Luke Blincow – Project Manager

AFTERCARE

Smart home aftercare and maintenance specialistWe put aftercare, support and maintenance at the very front of what we do. This is the foundation upon which we operate our business. In a way it’s working backwards as often it’s one of the last services considered. We like to do things differently and have invested heavily in this area to ensure we can provide a market leading service to look after our clients homes and businesses. We measure our response times by how quickly we can attend a site not how quickly we can ‘log in’. This is our first line of support, our focus is physical, proactive and preemptive.

”Our new CRM platform has helped me consolidate some of the older legacy monitoring systems with new and makes it significantly easier for me to stay on top of the information on all sites. This means increased efficiency and quicker response times. It has also made takeover maintenance contracts which we often do, much more seamless.”

Stuart Haines – Head of Aftercare
